No-Oven Sponge Cake

Ever since I've shown interest in cooking and baking, I've always admired those who came up with their own ideas and recipes. That's why - right now - I'm super(!!) proud to tell you that I was able to invent a new recipe on how to bake a no-oven sponge cake! I've almost bursted out in tears when I saw that I've succeeded at my first try (maybe that's exaggerated). Anyway, watch the video down below to get to know the recipe! (Also my first YouTube video!)

How to fix your broken make-up (with alcohol!)

Hi there!
The other day, I eavesdropped one silent lament from one of my friends: Her make-up broke to bits and she was devastated. Since I wanted to cheer her up, I promised to fix it with a fool-proof method:

You'll only need:
alcohol (any hard liquor will suffice - I used vodka in this case)
a tiny spoon
tissue

1.Mince the broken make-up until there are no big clumps.
2.Pour a few drops of vodka over it.
3.Stir the mass together and smooth out the surface with a spoon.
4.Press a tissue over it until it absorbs all the remaining fluid.
5.Let it either dry in a sunless place or in the fridge for around 24 hours.
6.Now you can use it again and it is as good as before!

Christmas Socks DIY

Hey!
Already looking forward to Christmas? Well, I do. What I like the most about this pre-Christmas period is the anticipation and the tingly vibe in the air. Everybody is busy buying presents and preparing for the feast - it's an active phase!
I still remember that I would always put out my big Christmas sock the night before St Nicholas' Day and hang it over the doorknob. The next morning, it was filled with chocolates, mandarins and nuts. Today's DIY comes a little bit too late for St Nicholas' Day, but you can use this sock for Christmas or as an Advent calendar. Hope you like it and enjoy this month!

First of all, you have to choose your fabric and you need some interfacing, as well as a pair of scissors, needle and thread and your sewing machine.
Cut out two pieces of fabric and interfacing (wanted size of your sock).
Iron the interfacing onto each piece of fabric. Press your iron over the interfacing for around 10 seconds.
Should look like this now:
Take some pins and pin the shape of a sock. Pay attention that the fabric lies in the middle.

Sew along the trace.
Cut off the spare fabric.
Evert the sock through the hole above and sew on a small strap.
Now it's ready to be used!

(It turned out that I can put in half of my arm, so if I should ever need some spare gloves, I know what I could take...)

Hair Accessory: Ribbon Bow Tutorial

Maybe you've noticed it already, but I feel some kind of affection towards bows (okay, I'm fond of a lot of things...). I'm writing this post while drinking a good cup of hot cappucchino, in between my homework, letting my brain pause a little. Taking a break once in a while is good for your body and your soul. Constantly working and thinking won't do you any good. I often find myself a lot more relaxed and focused after a break and afterwards, I can concentrate even better on my work. Sometimes, I relieve my accumulated stress by crafting, drawing or making something creative. You'll see, creativity will boost your brain activity, too!
Either way, I think I drifted off a bit, so why not try making this hair accessory in a work break?

First of all, you'll need 3 stripes of ribbon. One with 5cm, one with 11cm and the last one with a length of 17cm (the length can vary of course).
Now, take the longest stripe, find its middle, fold both ends towards it and glue them down.
Do the same with the second longest stripe.
Place the smaller piece over the bigger one (pay attention that you glue them together in the middle!)
Take the smallest section, wrap it around the middle and glue it firmly.
Okay, now you only have to place the piece over a barrette, glue them together, and you're good to go!

And? How was it to take a break from work and let your creativity flow? Can you already feel your brain juices flowing again? Hope you enjoyed it!

A Guard for the Light Switch | DIY

 Hi!
I don't have a lot of time right now (but I didn't want to post nothing!), so today's post is going to be a very short DIY on how to decorate your light switch. Without further ado, let's begin!

To start off, I cut out the shape I want. Here, I've used sticker paper (it will be easier to stick onto the wall later).
Next, I cut out two white ovals for the eyes and glued them onto their place.
Now it's time to add some details!
Just stick it over the light switch and you have created a tiny guard who observes it!

Experiment around: cut out different shapes and figures - let your imagination run wild!

Twist Ring | Handmade

Heyyy!
You know what? Friends and family are sometimes the best inspiration. Whenever one of my close friends celebrate their birthday, I always try to come up with something handmade. It's more personal, don't you think so, too? To cut a long story short: My friend (we've known each other since kindergarten) turned 18 (in Germany she's considered an adult now) and she's an absolute ring-lover. Well, scroll down to find out how I crafted a really simple ring for her:

Materials:
How to:
Cut two strings of wire and thread them through the holes of the gem.
Twist the strings together.
Bend the two ends to form a ring fitting a finger.
Cut off the remaining wire and it's done!
Now you can create a bunch of them and either stack them together or just give them away as dainty little presents!

Personalized Door Plate | DIY

Hey there!
As I was flipping through a lifestyle magazine, my gaze was suddenly attracted to a door. It had a door plate! You may think 'OK, what's so cool about that?', but oh boy...I haven't seen a door plate since I was a child and almost none of my friends still have one. Door plates remind me of my childhood, when I - like every other child- wanted my name to be on everything I own. The door plate in the magazine looked so cute, I just had to make my own...:

Luckily, I found a wooden panel in our basement. It's not too thick and the size was just right.
I sawed one side off - in a straight line. Then, I drew my design onto the wood.
Afterwards, I sawed around my sketch. It's okay to do this step roughly, because...
...you only have to smooth out the sides and edges with sandpaper.
Painting time! (My color turned out to be baby blue)
OK, time to add some details for the face.
Now attach supporters and a chain on the back side.

Honestly, this was one of the most tiring projects I've ever done. I thought that my arm would fall off from all the sawing. Either way, it was worth all the trouble and I'm veeery happy with the end result! I decided to write my name in Korean, because it just looked better to me in the moment!

Swarovski Flower Drop Back Earring | DIY

Hey there!
In today's post, I will show you how to DIY these  earrings - sparkling at the front AND from the back as well. This type of earring became popular last year and has been hyped a lot (at least that's how I saw it). Last year, when I visited my family and my native country Korea, I've seen those earrings everywhere and I've also bought myself a pair. They were just different and something new. I really like the pair I have, but I wished that I would have more of them...So, I was thinking that it couldn't be that hard to craft them (and it's so so so easy!). Read on below to verify it yourself!

1. What you need: 2 headpins, a pair of earrings, 2 beads (I chose two swarovski flower pearls), jewelry pliers (not seen above)
2. Start by slipping the bead onto the headpin.
3. Take your jewelry pliers and bend the headpin upward. Leave a small space between the curve and the bead (for your ear).
4. Now, create a tiny loop at the end (you don't want your backside to be too long, so clip off the lenght of your headpin according to your preference).
5. All complete! Ready to wear?

Ta-dah! Brighten up your face and your day with this sparkling and cute earring! ~Shine brighter  than a diamond...~

And? Easy, right? I always feel so satisfied and happy when I craft something - do you also know this feeling?

DIOR "Mise en Dior" | Marbled Clay Edition

I've already seen a few variations of DIOR's "Mise en Dior" earrings, but they were all about drilling holes into beads and embedding rubber earring backs. (Those of you who don't know them: They have a smaller pearl at the front and a bigger one behind the lobe - it's their characteristic trait). For me, honestly, this way seemed a bit hard since I'm not familiar with using a drill and there was this slight possibility of accidentally breaking your precious pearls. I've wanted to try a new and safer method so I experimented around a bit and I finally came up with a different version: Why not use clay? That's why I will share with you an alternative to create equally beautiful earrings.
Let's begin!

Materials:
Pair of earrings
Clay (air-dry)
Nail polish (I wanted to keep it classic so I've used black and white)
Tissue
Toothpicks
Bowl with water

Step-by-Step:
Okay, start with forming 4 balls out of the clay clump. 2 smaller ones and 2 bigger ones for the back.
Insert the front side of the earrings into the 2 smaller balls. Do the same with the 2 bigger balls by inserting the screw backs into them. Let them air-dry.
After they've air-dried (I let them air-dry over the night, but a few hours suffice), drip a couple of nail polish drops into a bowl filled with water. Take a toothpick to swirl the surface (marbling effect!).
Now take one part of the earring and dip it in. Repeat this step with every part of the earrings. (Tip: Since the bigger balls don't have an attached stick, just poke a needle inside them to get a hold of them).

Ta-dah! You are finished!
What do you think of this method? I personally like the marbling effect a lot, I think it looks more 'unique' but that's just my opinion! (The balls didn't end up to be perfectly round but because of the marbling it doesn't stand out that much, fortunately!)
